Pakistan – T20 World Champions

Pakistan has won the 2009 T20 worldcup. After winning the 1992 world cup, this is their major world cup victory. No one had expected that Pak would win the T20 cup. Afridi played brilliantly in the Finals to lift the cup. India lost 3 matches & didnt qualify for the semis. India were the favourites in the beginning. Pakista which has been hit badly by the terror attacks, T20 cup acted like a big uniter for the entire country.

Iran Elections & Twitter

Post election Iran has witnessed large scale violence about irregularities in voting. Huge protestes have been going on & it has drawn the attention of global media & governments. Tehran has imposed restrictions on Foreign journalists & online media has proved to be very useful. Twitter has been used by the Iranians to communicate about the elections. Flickr, you tube, facebook & other sites are also being used to provide information. Twitter even had to postpone the scheduled maintainance following Iran elections. This is the big use of Twitter in International circles.

Air France Flight 447 – Rio to Paris

The Air France Flight 447 from Rio to Paris with more than 200 people aboard the plane disappeared Monday over the Atlantic. Brazilian & French are still searching for the flight beneath the ocean. Several theories have been put forward as to why the plane disappeared. Black box is yet to be recovred to find the reason. This is one of the worst Air disasters & will take time to find out the reasons. Lightning, Computer glitches, Thunderstorms & several other reasons are being atributed.

Bing, Wolfram Alpha & Google Squared

Microsoft has launched Bing, a new search engine replacing its live service. Microsoft is trying to redefine search with this new Search engine. It is pouring millions into ads about Bing. It has got early positive reviews since launch. Wolfram Alpha, a computational knowledge engine,  which gives a set of data for a user query. Google has launched Google Squared. This is more like a structured data type. For a user input, it gives the result in tabular way where the column can be modified. Search is becoming a hot topic with real time search also coimng into picture.

Microsoft has been emphasizing on Search Engines & will be launching a new SE. It is also coming out with new Advt on rethinking about search engines. Share of microsoft’s in search market is less compared to Google & is emphasizing more on SE technology. Last year it also tried to purchase Yahoo’s search business to boost its search market presence. Now with real time search of Twitter, search teachnology is reaching new heights. Google has also introduced several new improvements to search.

End of IPL 2

IPL 2 has come to an end with Deccan Chargers winning the cup. The final between Deccan Chargers & RCB was great. This year’s IPL saw some controversies as well. KKR lost many of the matches & there was fake IPL blog adding fuel to fire. IPL 2 generated lots of excitement in South Africa. Hayden scored maximum no. of runs. No one could have imagined Chargers & RCB which were at the bottom of table reached the finals. Viewers were glued to TV sets during IPL & has generated lots of interest in T20 games.

2009 Election Results

The elections in 2009 have thrown an unexpected results. No body had imagined that UPA would get so many seats. BJP hoping for a big victory but could not get enough seats to form the govt. The opinion polls & Exit polls have given a different picture but the mandate of the people was different. In Karnataka, BJP won 19 seats. Congress made with only 6 seats. In UP, congress made big inroads by going alone. It was celebration time at the congress head quarters. The month long elections was also the talk of the twittersphere. It has to be seen how the next govt will carry forward the economic reforms. The stock market has given a thumbs up for the poll results with the stock index zooming. Congress has been able to improve upon the tally compared to last elections.

Maruti Suzuki has launched Ritz. Maruti Suzuki has been succesfully selling Swift & Dzire.  Ritz is based on Suzuki’s European car Splash. It is available in petrol version & Diesel version. Ritz has the newest in engine technology & available in 5 variants. Maruti suzuki has the largest market share in Indian car market. Indian Automobile market has seen a slew of new introductions in recent years. Volvo, Porsche, Audi & BMW have introduced new models in the market. Now a days many Audi & BMW cars can be seen in bigger cities. India auto market is growing at a rapid pace. However, the global recession has affected the auto market in recent days. M & M also launched Xylo recently. The infrastructure like road should also be improved with increasing vehicles.
